A new year often prompts many of us to reflect on the past year and to make resolutions for the new year. Unfortunately most of us (including me) don't do a very good job of keeping those resolutions. Instead of making specific resolutions I've decided to follow
Ali Edward's lead and choose one word to focus on during the year. My word for this year is discover. Several big changes have occurred in my life (particularly in the last seven months). I retired after teaching for 34 years, built a new home, moved to a new town, and welcomed grandbaby #2 into the world.
I like this quote by Mark Twain. "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
2011 promises to be a year of discovery on several different levels (personal, physical, and spiritual). Let the journey begin!
